Cheryl Cole The Rock Chick

Cheryl Cole the popstar who only last christmas did a Sin City style photoshoot for Q magazine, where she was transformed into a rock n roll heroin. Now after announcing the break up with her husband Chelsea star Ashley Cole, she has all of a sudden been thrown into this years V Festival along side Kasabian, Kings Of Leon, Prodigy, Paul Weller and Florence & The machine.

All the signs are showing a new direction for Cheryl, not only was she welcomed as a new member of PRS last year, meaning she has now started putting pen to paper and writing her own songs. Her new look of skin tight leather jeans, leopard print shoes that she has took on to launch her new solo career has rock chick written all over it.

All I know is with this new look, she’s got my vote!

But what do you think of this sudden new direction, a publicity stunt set up by her PR? Her A&R taking too much control? A styilist with a fetish for rock clothing?

Mister Jack – So Much For The Snow

So we had all that snow at the beginning of the year, was a madness to see as i have only seen that much snow 3 or 4 times in my life. Being a Londoner born & bread the weather we normally see is rain, rain and more rain. In fact a few years ago when I had me a mohican and played in a street punk band (miss them dayz) it rained so hard the hair spray i had in me hair ran in me eyes, was not pleasent.

But I digress, my point is the weather sucks in the UK, all we can hope for is a warm summer which we seldom get or a white winter wonderland. Yeah, snow does have it’s negative connotations, being unable to get to work or being snowed in, but for me it takes me back to my childhood. But this cold snap brought on a blizzard on the east coast of America and I can only imagine it must be a nightmare for the residants, with cabin fever setting in.

Why do I No Longer Purchase CDs

It was this weekend, that I discovered it’s been so long now since I bought a CD, I can’t even remember the last time I went in a store and picked up a record. I was left thinking, what does this mean?

It was 8 weeks ago doing my Christmas shopping that I was shocked to discover that HMV had once again reduced the CD racks, in Hammersmith the HMV racks were 91% DVD’s and 8 % CD’s. I’m no stranger to the constantly evolving music industry, in fact I’m a stong believer in the new business model and the strength of the legal mp3 download on platforms like iTunes, Amazon and Rhapsody.

But I digress, it was Sunday night when I was browsing the iTunes store and clicked the buy button on Alicia Keys – “Empire State Of Mind” when I realized it’s been so long since I actually bought a CD, is it because I don’t value CDs anymore? NO WAY! My immense CD collection proves otherwise, so what the hell is it?

Well I came to the conclusion it must be the sheer eaze of use, the convenience of just hearing a 30 second sample and clicking buy now for the dirt cheap price of 79p. The convenience of accessing any song I want from the iTunes store on my iPhone, no matter where I am. It makes the task of traveling to the record store a thing of the past.

Is 2012 The End for The Earls Court Exhibition Center

It’s a sad show when some of London’s best live venues shutdown, which seems to be the trend in recent years Astoria, Sin and more.

Now a new addition to the list is The Earls Court Exhibition Center, yes it’s an exhibition center playing host to all kinds of conventions and trade shows but it has also housed some of the best concerts. It has also been the main arena for the Brit Awards for many years now.

Now it seems after the 2012 Olympics this building will be demolished to build a modest housing development. I think that sucks and will be a great travesty for West London and the music industry.

Megan Fox and her New Hair Do; Good or Bad, what do you think?

So Megan Fox has shaved of her hair in a crazy Britney Spears flex, or has she? Well she’s landed herself a new job in “Alien Nation” a re-make of the 1988 film of the same name. For this role she is required to be bald playing the alien Susan Francisco. I was 2 when the first film came out so I had to see it repeated on terrestrial tv some point in the late 90’s, I thought the film sucked and the spin-off tv show even worse. But anyways, the point of this blog is to debate if this new look suits her? I want to know what you think…personally I think she still looks cute but better with the hair.

It’s Official, Today is the Last Day of Christmas

It’s official today is the last day of Christmas and it’s time we take our decorations down. But as it’s only 50 weeks till next Christmas I thought I’d give you a little peak at my Tree before I put the decorations away and plant the old beauty.

A Big Thank You To My Fans

I’d like to give a big thank you to all my fans for buying my record this week and giving me a shot at the UK charts this Christmas, I know I was brave to do a Christmas record but I thought it was about time a new Christmas record hit the charts. A quick update to let you know I’m one of the most viewed musician on YouTube. The last few weeks thanks to you guys YouTube has issued me many honors including number 18 most viewed today, number 38 most viewed this week, number 96 most viewed and many more.

So this is a big thank you to all my fans for buying my record (Available on iTunes, HMV, Amazon and more) and making me one of teh mst viewed UK musicians on YouTube.
